Clave & Coordination - part 1 - by Alain Rieder
Here's a few exercises that I wrote to gain independance between my left-foot clave and the rest of the set.
Small tom is played with the left hand, floor tom with the right.
Left foot can play the hi-hat, a cowbell or a woodblock.

Here's the basic pattern for toms and bass-drum:

Here's the same pattern, displaced and starting on the second note:

To make things a little easier, we can isolate the feet patterns.

Now back to the pattern from exercise 1, but this time without the bass-drum:
